It was the perfect morning in the Hershey Gardens for Kenzie's senior session!
There is something special about being a photographer in the town you grew up in and where you raised your children. This week has been filled with many special memories and moments. I am so grateful for the friends and family in this wonderful town.
A little history- Kenzie's mom and I went to high school together and then her older sister and our youngest went to preschool and college together. We captured her older sister's graduation pictures in the spring at Temple University.
All this history made this senior photo session even more special! We are very excited to celebrate Kenzie and her senior year! During the consultation call, it was great to hear Kenzie's wishes and learn what she liked and didn't like regarding locations and style. We discussed the different location options and she decided that the Hershey Gardens would be the perfect location to capture her personality and style.
It is a beautiful location with so many different flower gardens that provide a variety of backdrops. From the rose garden, perennial garden, and annual garden it provided the perfect backdrop to showcase Kenzie! At MVP we love it when family members come along for the session and we will always take a few pictures to capture them in this special time, too!
Jennifer, Kenzie, and Tyson,
Thank you so much for a fun morning at the
Hershey Gardens. It was a gift to have the opportunity
to capture your senior photos for you! We are
very excited for you and your senior year!
Best wishes.
XO,
Wendy
Sharing a few of our favorite photos and a few tips when photographing in a flower garden.
Enjoy!
Tips we kept in mind when we captured Kenzie's portraits:
- Timing of the session- we choose the morning because the garden closes at 5 pm. We had a beautiful sunrise sun for the session.
- Choose the right background- we looked for beautiful flowers that complemented Kenzie and didn't overpower her. We aimed for areas with color harmony or contrasting hues.
- Work with the depth of field to allow Kenzie to be the focus and provide that soft, dreamy bokeh effect that blurs the flowers in the background.
- Shoot at different angles for different perspectives to add creativity.
- Capture Candids
- Dress to complement the gardens/flowers. The week before Kenzie's session we had a call to discuss outfits and at the gardens, we had a game plan on what outfit for which flower garden.
- Capture pictures with family/friends who came with you for the session. We always capture these pictures! They are some of my favorites from the session.
